CARH to Testify at House Committee Hearing on Rural Housing on June 12, 2025

On Thursday, June 12, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing entitled “Housing in the Heartland: Addressing Our Rural Housing Needs.” The hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Eastern and can be streamed live here.

The hearing with focus on ways to bring additional capital to rural areas thereby increasing the supply of rural housing. Witnesses will also be asked to comment on legislation that will likely be re-introduced in the House of Representatives that would provide for a permanent decoupling of the Section 521 program from the Section 515 program when a property’s mortgage matures.

CARH President and Director of Development of Buckeye Community Hope Foundation, Ian Maute and CARH member David Lipsetz, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Assistance Council will testify. Additional witnesses scheduled to testify are:

  • Richard Baier, President and CEO of Nebraska Bankers Association

  • David Garcia, Policy Director of Up for Growth
